How to get to Koh Chang
Koh Chang is the second biggest island in Thailand which is located in the West of Thailand. Before getting on the island, you will first go to a pier which is situated in Trat. There are several buses running from Bangkok and Pattaya to Laem Ngop/Trat. Other options to get to Trat are by air and by private transfers. It is also easy to reach Trat from the Cambodian border.
Bangkok to Koh Chang
You can get to Koh Chang from Bangkok by many ways. The most common ways are by air, bus and private transfers.
Trat has an airport which is only, however, serviced by Bangkok Airways. There are three flights flying Suvarnabhumi Airport to Trat. From Trat Airport, you take a taxi to the Center Point Pier where you take a ferry to Koh Chang. Arriving in Koh Chang, you can take a Songthaew to go to your accommodation. You can also arrange a pick-up service with your accommodation.
From Bangkok, you can take a bus from the Eastern (Ekkamai) Bus Terminal. There are two buses leaving daily from Ekkamai to Laem Ngop Piers at 7:45 and 9:45. There are more buses running from Ekkamai to Trat. Buses to Trat run daily and frequently from 6:00 to 23:30. From Victory Monument, minibuses are also offered to Trat. These minibuses leave hourly. The journey takes about 5 hours depending on the traffic. You will be dropped off on the main road about 25km before you reach Trat. There will be some Songthaews waiting to take people to the pier. From the pier, you will buy a ticket for the ferry. The ferry ride takes about 45 minutes and you take a Songthaew to go to your accommodation from the Koh Chang Pier.
You can also take a shared shuttle from Bangkok to Koh Chang which leaves at 8:00 from Khao San Road and at 9:00 from Hua Lamphong Railway Station. From Suvarnabhumi Airport now offers direct buses to Koh Chang which leave at 7:00, 11:00 and 14:00. The bus will drop passengers at the Center Point Pier on the mainland.

Pattaya to Koh Chang
There is no direct bus service for the route Pattaya to Koh Chang but some minivan/minibuses are offered. It is the cheapest mode of transportation to get to Koh Chang from Pattaya. The more convenient way is by private transfers.
Minibus leaves twice a day – at 8:00 and 13:00 – from Pattaya to Koh Chang. Tickets can be booked through any travel agents in Pattaya or Koh Samet. The journey would take 4 hours in total.

To make your trip more convenient flexible, it is best to take private transfers from Pattaya to Koh Chang. Private transfers’ vehicles variate from Sedans, SUVs and minibuses.
Cambodia to Koh Chang
The most common route that is taken to Koh Chang is from Koh Kong, a beach town next to the border to Thailand. Tickets can be purchased in any accommodation. There is only one bus daily leaving from Koh Kong to Koh Chang. The bus picks you up at around 12:30-13:00. Since the bus makes a tour around Koh Kong to pick up people, it could come later. After being picked up, you will be taken to Hat Lek, the Koh Kong border. You will do your immigration customs here before entering Thailand. After walking through the Thai border, there will be some minivans waiting for you at the other side. For travelling to Koh Chang, the minivan will take you to Trat, to a station where you change your bus ticket to ferry ticket and pay an extra 80 Baht if you wish to be dropped off at your accommodation in Koh Chang. It takes about 6 hours to go from Koh Kong to Koh Chang.
